Former Nigeria international, Friday Ekpo, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to see the FIFA international break as opportunity to bring the Super Eagles together by organising quality friendly games for the team before the next game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in August, 2017.

Nigeria top Group B of the African qualifying series on six points after securing two wins from two games and are four points ahead of second placed Cameroon.

The Super Eagles will host the Indomitable Lions on August 28, 2017 on match day-3 of the qualifiers.

Ekpo, who won bronze medal at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations, advised the NFF to keep the Eagles busy before the next match of the qualifiers.

He told Complete Sports, “I will advise the Nigeria Football Federation to take every necessary steps to make sure the Super Eagles take advantage of the FIFA calendar.

“They should make sure the Eagles play quality international friendly games to keep them in shape.

“Also, the coach has to go round and monitor the players because while playing for their club sides, injury might set in. So he would have the opportunity to look for replacements.

“He should also make the team very competitive so as to bring the best out of the players in the course of the qualifiers.
